Kingsgrove High School welcomes International Students.
Each year about 50 International students across years 7-12 (from a total of approximately 1160 students) study at the school. The majority of these are in years 10-12 and most come from China. The remainder are from South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other Asian countries.
One of the school’s strengths is its English as a Second Language support team who assist our international students in the following ways:
- ESL English is available as an HSC subject
- specialist ESL teachers offer individual or small group support from Year 7 to 12
- Fundamentals of English is offered off-line as a subject for Year 11 and 12 students to develop and supplement their language skills
- additional support such as small group tutorials is provided
Our International students are very successful at the Higher School Certificate and many go on to study at the University of their choice OR to NSW TAFE after the HSC.
In addition to our academic programs, we organise excursions, including some interstate, to enhance their understanding of Australian culture and society. The school also holds regular multicultural festivals. KHS also recently held a ‘bush dance’ (see picture).
We have a very supportive International Students Coordinator – Ms Chang. Ms Chang is also our Chinese teacher, and one of our English as Second Language teachers, and she looks after all International Students at the school. All teachers are very supportive.

The thing I remember most about the school is the people here, all the school staff, teachers and friends. They are very friendly and always help me when I need help. I remember the first day I went to school. Some students didn’t mind to spend their time to guide me to all the places in the school. They showed me everything.
